BADMINTON IN A NUTSHELL

The origins

Badminton has its roots in ancient India (the « Pune« ). It was not until the late 19th century, in England, at the Duke of Beaufort’s estate, that the rules of ‘Badminton House’ were formalised. The sport quickly spread throughout the British Empire and went global with the creation of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and legendary tournaments such as the All England Open.

Badminton: The art of competition and perseverance

Modern badminton is much more than just a game of hitting shuttlecocks back and forth. It is a comprehensive sport that demands athletic fitness, strategic game sense and a steely resolve. In France, under the impetus of the French Badminton Federation, the sport is enjoying a new golden age, boosted by the modernisation of facilities and the emergence of young talents who are flying the French flag high on the BWF World Tour.
